Design CoMission

In 2014, LSW Architects, in collaboration with high school students from throughout SW Washington, formed Design CoMission. It was formed in recognition of the need to build a future workforce of design thinkers and provide students with meaningful design opportunities.

In the words of the students, “Design CoMission is a group of driven students working in collaboration with the community to make a positive impact. They develop innovative solutions through architecture and design.”

Twice a year, LSW accepts applications for Design CoMission. Up to 12 students are selected for participation in each session. Selected students will meet two afternoons per week and collaborate with professionals on a variety of real-world design projects, earning school credit in the process.

Students will gain experience in areas of:

  • Working in teams
  • Creative problem solving
  • Understanding of Design Process
  • Architecture and Design
  • Professional communication and presentation
  • Design software and tools
